Chapter 229: The Change
Chapter 229: The Change
When the entire World Magic Alliance and its members were in an uproar, Kadyn was sitting inside his meditation room. The strange energy was rotating around him and different colors of swirls were forming and disappearing inside his body. After the shop became rank 5, his magic improved faster, he felt more concentrated whenever he meditated here. And now he was just a bit away from reaching the rank 6 mage.
When Kadyn opened his eyes, it was already morning. He walked out of the meditation room and stretched. The wind was rustling and the birds were chirping—it was peaceful and tranquil. Then he went to have breakfast with everyone else. However, as soon as he finished the breakfast and was ready to step out of the house, something happened.
[Emergency Mission: Create hundred rank 5 artifacts and hundred rank 5 potions and sold them to the World Magic Alliance.]
[Time limit: 2 days]
[Reward: ?]
[Failing penalty: You will lose the system]
Kadyn froze on the spot when he heard the announcement, and then his eyes opened wide. He had no idea why this sudden mission the system had given, but as soon as he saw the penalty, he rushed towards his companions and started to issue orders. Damn, he did not want to lose the system.
He was also confused as the system had never given him such a mission, so why now?
Nonetheless, he had no leisure to ponder upon it, so he gave his all in completing the mission. He called anyone who knew about potion and artifact making.
Zelie and Elora went with him with some new recruits who could help in potion making while Hot Rod, Melvona and Dion went with other recruits who could help them in artifact making. He needed all the help he could find at the moment.
He even closed the shop at that day as he did not want any disturbance. Furthermore, he informed other branches to find any high-level herbs and ores, as he knew that he would need a lot of material and the one he had in the shop won’t be enough. He also sent a few recruits in the market to look around if they could find any material there.

While Kadyn was busy, though himself not knowing why, the battle was being fought over and around a huge lake, hundreds of miles away from Vrilas.
A man pierced the chest of a hideous creature that had come out of the lake, with his sword and turned towards another monster. Another man shattered the head of a creature with his knuckles—the sticky liquid splattered all over him, but he cared little and roared furious, blood lust taking over him.
Soon they were able to handle all the creatures that had come out of the Well of Suppression. They fell on their butts—huffing and puffing and sweating. However, before they could enjoy their victory the disturbance once more started to happen inside the lake.
"Wh—what the hell is happening?" one of the man stammered.
"Tell the others about this situation," ordered the leader. "There is not a one wave this time, but two."
"Sir—"
"Now!"
"Ye—yes," replied the man and others became ready to go for another battle.
"Charge!" And they rushed towards the incoming creatures. However, soon they felt something amiss. These monsters were stronger than the one they killed previously. They were faster and stronger.
Nonetheless, they still succeeded in defeating them and finally smiles appeared on their faces. Though those smiles turned into horrified expressions as once more the disturbance occurred over the Well of Suppression.
This time the creatures were larger than the previous monsters. They had bigger bodies, larger wings, spikier horns, crueler claws. They looked terrible, hideous, cruel abominations.
Although the elders were weak and fatigued they once more stood and fought valiantly with the creatures. Not caring about the life or death. They had a single aim, and that was to kill and stop these monsters so they could not kill any innocent. They knew the corruption ran deep inside the alliance, but there were always a few good apples amidst the rotten ones.
One of the elders sliced the head of a creature and roared; however, at that moment another abomination arrived behind him like a shadow. The elder failed to notice him.
"Watch out!" his companions screamed, but it was too late. The creature grinned and pierced the back of the elder and the claw poked out of his chest, holding still beating heart, dripping with his warm blood.
"La!" shouted one of the elders, tears rolling down his cheeks. He knew La for years. Both of them had come from a very humble background, so they hit it off pretty well, and became brothers who fought and protected and helped each other in the time of need. La had two children and a wife waiting for him at home. He didn’t know how he would tell her the death of her husband.
He had never thought that he would see the death of his friend, helplessly, unable to do anything. The pain and agony pierced through his heart, the pain of losing his precious friend. Not only him, others also hadn’t thought that they would lose one of their companions at this godforsaken place.
"Kill these bastards!" roared the leader, eyes red, and started to fight even more furiously, and somehow they were able to defeat all the monsters. However, before they could rest another wave arrived, and this time the creatures were stronger. They felt despair as they could no more fight. Tiredness and helplessness could be seen all over their faces. Maybe this was enough—
"What are you waiting for?!" shouted the leader. "If we die, we die with dignity. Not like cowards, but like warriors."
Others nodded, battle intent flickered inside their eyes. This was a do or die situation, and if you were going to die, anyway... why not take a few extra people with you?
