Chapter 818 - 433: Thunder Wielder Raikou? Before You Stands the Thunder God, Pikachu! (2)
Pikachu’s tiny body was wrapped in overwhelming Thunder Power, slamming solidly into Raikou’s flank!
Raikou’s massive body was knocked sideways by the hit, its four limbs plowing four deep furrows into the ground, but in the end it still couldn’t withstand Pikachu’s Gigan Strength and was sent flying.
Yet at the very instant it was blown away, a sharp glint flashed through the crimson slit pupils of Raikou’s eyes.
Its body twisted violently in midair, adjusting its posture at an angle that completely defied common sense.
"Nice one, Raikou, use Thunderbolt again!" Morty hurriedly ordered Raikou to counterattack.
"Pikachu, Iron Tail!" Ash’s voice rang out at the same time.
Pikachu suddenly leapt up, body spinning in midair, the tail behind him shimmering with a metallic luster and raised high like a giant axe, chopping down at Raikou with brutal force!
"Bang!!!"
Iron Tail landed solidly on Raikou, whipping its massive body and sending it flying outright!
However, even as Raikou was flung away, dazzling golden Thunder Light erupted from that huge frame!
Even in this posture, Raikou could still use a Skill!
Caught off guard, Pikachu was struck head-on by Raikou’s Thunderbolt!
"Pika!"
Pikachu cried out in pain as his small body was swallowed by golden Thunder Light, falling from midair and crashing heavily to the ground.
He struggled to his feet, a few obvious burn marks appearing on his body, his breathing noticeably more labored.
Under the effect of Aura Fusion, Pikachu’s ATK was overwhelmingly fierce, but defensive power was ultimately his weak point; Raikou’s counterattack had dealt him considerable damage.
Because Aura Fusion only transmits Ash’s Aura Power into Pikachu’s body to boost his energy output, Pikachu’s Physical Strength does not increase, and that is the fatal shortcoming of Aura Fusion.
Once activated, you have to end the battle fast.
"Worthy of being one of the legendary Three Holy Beasts." Ash gazed solemnly at the golden thunder tiger that had been smacked away yet still landed firmly, and sincerely praised, "To adjust its posture and counterattack even while being sent flying—this kind of battle instinct and body control is something ordinary Pokemon could never pull off."
Morty was equally shocked: "I’m the one who should be praising. That Pikachu’s Speed and ATK are downright unbelievable. That Move called Zippy Zap—its Speed is already comparable to Extreme Speed, right? I’ve never seen a Pikachu that could be this fast."
Zippy Zap, something he had literally never heard of. Ash’s Pikachu not only had bizarre strength, but also bizarre Moves. He finally understood why Ash’s Pikachu was so famous.
Before facing them, even though he had prepared himself mentally, Morty had still been fooled by Pikachu’s species. Who would’ve thought Ash’s Pikachu would be this unwilling to "act like a mouse"!
"Raikou, meditation." Morty quickly pressed down the shock in his heart and gave a low, steady command.
Since he couldn’t win against Pikachu in a straight-up clash, then he’d use a boosting Skill to raise Raikou’s Special Attack and Special Defense. As long as he could endure Pikachu’s offensive, then relying on Raikou’s legendary Pokemon Physical Strength advantage, if he dragged this into a drawn-out battle, the scales of victory would tip toward him!
Raikou planted its four limbs firmly on the ground, its crimson slit pupils slowly closing. A mysterious energy surged out from within its body, forming a faint purple halo that shrouded its whole form.
Meditation, starting the charge-up.
"Pikachu, Volt Tackle!" Ash had absolutely no intention of letting Raikou calmly buff up.
"Pika! Pika! Pika!—Chu Pika!!"
Pikachu’s four limbs stomped down hard, the ground beneath his feet exploding in an instant. His entire body was wrapped in a layer of dense, almost solid golden Thunder, transforming into a blazing Thunder meteor that crashed toward Raikou!
His speed was so fast it made one’s breath catch; Morty couldn’t even react in time to give a dodge command.
"Boom!!!"
Volt Tackle slammed solidly into Raikou, golden Thunder Light engulfing its entire body.
Raikou let out a muffled roar, its massive body forced to slide backward under this terrifying force. Its four limbs clawed hard at the ground, but even so, it couldn’t escape the outcome of being blasted and sent flying.
However, during the entire process of being slammed backward, the faint purple halo around Raikou not only didn’t dissipate, it actually grew more intense!
When Raikou’s back crashed heavily into the transparent barrier at the edge of the Gym with a deep, booming impact, that halo had just reached its peak and then slowly receded, sinking back into its body.
Meditation, complete.
Raikou’s Special Attack and Special Defense both rose by one Level at this moment.
Ash’s brows furrowed slightly. He’d noticed it now: this Raikou could use any Skill without being interrupted.
No matter the posture, no matter whether it was being attacked, it could completely unleash whatever Skill it wanted to use.
Pikachu’s ATK, boosted by the Light Ball and Partner Form, had already surpassed Champion Peak. It hadn’t reached Divine Domain Level yet, but it still wasn’t something Champion Peak could pretend to compare to.
Even if Electric Type Moves only did minor damage to Raikou, with this abnormal ATK it should at least be able to interrupt the opponent’s Skills... but things weren’t going his way. Legendary Pokemon really were both troublesome and broken!
Even if it were his Pikachu or Charizard, they wouldn’t necessarily be able to pull off something like this.
"Raikou, Extreme Speed!"
Light flashed in Morty’s eyes as he seized the brief stiffness on Pikachu’s body after using Volt Tackle.
Raikou’s four limbs stomped down violently, the ground beneath its feet shattering with spiderweb-like cracks from the sheer force!
Its golden body turned into a streak of silver-white light, its Speed so fast its outline blurred as it charged straight at Pikachu!
"Pikachu, Zippy Zap!" Ash’s voice rang out at the very same moment.
Pikachu likewise transformed into a golden bolt, fearlessly rushing to meet him. The two streaks of light collided with a thunderous crash in the center of the field!
Hearing Ash’s command, Morty couldn’t help clenching his fists.
Just from this exchange of commands, it was clear that Ash’s adaptability and reaction speed far surpassed his.
Whether it was the earlier Volt Tackle or Zippy Zap, he hadn’t been able to respond in time—yet Ash had.
In the instant he had Raikou use Extreme Speed, Ash immediately reacted and had Pikachu unleash a corresponding Speed-boosting Move.
In terms of Trainer skill, Ash was far stronger than him!
"Bang!"
On the first collision, the two figures bounced apart at the same time, then lunged at each other again.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
With several successive clashes, the golden and silver-white streaks wildly wove through the air. Each collision erupted with deafening thunder, and violent shockwaves rippled in all directions, flinging chunks of shattered stone into the air, which hammered against the barrier and stirred up layer upon layer of ripples.
However, on the fourth collision, that silver-white streak clearly dimmed, and was forcibly blasted out of the clash by the golden lightning!
Raikou’s body tumbled twice in midair before its four limbs slammed down onto the ground, gouging two deep tracks as it finally just barely managed to stabilize itself.
A trace of disbelief flashed through its crimson slit pupils.
Morty’s face was likewise full of shock.
Why? Raikou was obviously a legendary Pokemon, its Ability Value top-tier even among those of the same Level. And its Level was Champion Advanced Level, while Pikachu was only Elite Advanced Level!
At the same Level, Raikou should already be in the advantageous position in a clash. So how, under Level suppression, was it instead repeatedly losing to Pikachu in direct collisions?
This made no scientific sense!
He knew Ash had some way of letting a Pokemon temporarily power up in a short burst, but... could it really reach this degree?
This was the gap between Elite Advanced Level and Champion Advanced Level—no, even bigger than that!
Because Raikou was Champion Advanced Level, and for that Pikachu to be able to suppress Raikou head-on meant that the leap in the opponent’s strength wasn’t just a simple jump from Elite Advanced Level to Champion Advanced Level.
"Why... why can that Pikachu reach this level? No matter how special it is, a power surge across such a gap is way too ridiculous!" Morty finally couldn’t hold himself back and voiced the question in his heart, even though they were still in the middle of a battle.
Who exactly is the real master of Thunder here!
Are you a thunder god too?
