Chapter 1860 - 1857: Heart
Chapter 1860 - 1857: Heart
Xu Feibai also furrowed his brows, taking a few steps back. Seeing their reaction, Xiao Manxuan was puzzled: "Lin Tian, why are you backing away?"
"Blood... don’t you see it?" Lin Tian pointed to the coffin lid, frowning.
"No, there’s nothing." Xiao Manxuan shook her head in confusion.
Lin Tian felt odd, rubbed his eyes vigorously, and looked again. There was no blood, and the jade coffin lay quietly without any unusual signs.
Almost simultaneously with Xu Feibai, he rushed over and pushed open the coffin lid. Inside the jade coffin, a dark red heart appeared prominently.
Lin Tian instinctively felt this was not an animal’s heart but a human’s heart, a sight that should have been disgusting and shocking.
However, the heart before him exuded a sense of power. Looking at it, it seemed as though one could feel its every beat, with blood rushing through its vessels.
"The Heart of Jiang Chen!" Xu Feibai exclaimed excitedly, about to rush forward to collect it.
Lin Tian quickly stopped him: "Are you crazy? If it really is the Heart of Jiang Chen, the phenomenon it causes alone could take your life."
He was unsure whether Xu Feibai was influenced by the Heart of Jiang Chen. Ever since seeing the heart, his demeanor had changed, from being calm and composed to impulsive.
Xu Feibai’s expression flickered, his eyes becoming clear again, returning to his usual calm demeanor.
He suddenly pointed at Xiao Manxuan, looking surprised: "What’s your woman doing?"
Lin Tian didn’t mind his wording, hurriedly turning to look at Xiao Manxuan. He was startled; the little girl had her fists clenched tightly, her expression and gaze unfamiliar, her eyes fixated on the Heart of Jiang Chen, seemingly burning with fire.
Moreover, Lin Tian could feel a scorching aura emanating from her. Her fair skin on her face and neck was even flushed, as if her blood were burning.
"Destroy it..." Xiao Manxuan’s lips moved slightly, her voice cold.
Damn, why is the little girl’s alien energy acting up now? Lin Tian shouted in his heart, quickly rushing over. At the same time, a golden thread flew from his hand, piercing her brow.
Xiao Manxuan trembled all over, her eyes regaining clarity, and the red on her skin quickly faded.
"Xuanxuan, just now you..." Lin Tian asked in confusion.
"I... after seeing it, I suddenly felt irritated and had an urge to destroy it." Xiao Manxuan stretched out her slender fingers, pointing at the Heart of Jiang Chen inside the jade coffin.
"Why? You’ve only seen the Heart of Jiang Chen for the first time." Lin Tian frowned, puzzled by the girl’s emotions, the urge to destroy the Heart of Jiang Chen.
"I don’t know, I just really wanted to destroy it. Could I have fallen under some spell?" Xiao Manxuan looked a little puzzled, not understanding herself.
Seeing her expression didn’t seem fake, Lin Tian was even more baffled. Could it be the alien energy acting up? But why would the alien energy react to the Heart of Jiang Chen?
"Forget it, let’s get out of here quickly, or we’ll end up sealed here like Jiang Chen." Xu Feibai glanced at Xiao Manxuan, also puzzled but chose not to delve into it.
He took out a pair of black gloves from his body, put them on, then pulled out a black bag, the material unknown. Approaching the jade coffin, Xu Feibai grabbed the Heart of Jiang Chen and put it in the bag. Tying the bag’s mouth, he turned to signal Lin Tian, ready to leave.
"Wait, the barrier couldn’t completely seal the Heart of Jiang Chen, and you think just a bag can contain it? If it stirs up trouble outside, neither of us can handle it." Lin Tian stopped him, feeling Xu Feibai was too hasty.
Xu Feibai, however, remained calm: "Don’t worry, the only reason it caused the phenomenon is because it wanted to weaken the barrier’s power under the blood moon and then break out or guide us to rescue it. Now, as long as it leaves the barrier, it won’t act up before resurrection."
Resurrection? Don’t end up trying to use Jiang Chen and becoming his puppet instead, Lin Tian thought to himself, though it was a matter for the Xu Family, so he didn’t question it further.
The three of them followed the tunnel back, and just as they exited the Qixing Sect, the ground shook, and the crack above slowly closed.
"Not good, the blood moon’s power is waning, let’s go!" Xu Feibai shouted urgently, leaping into the crack and quickly disappearing into the darkness, moving with incredible speed.
Lin Tian picked up Xiao Manxuan, leaping into the crack with her. By then, the crack had further closed, with rubble falling overhead. Each step he took shattered a pit in the rock wall, demonstrating great strength.
Holding Xiao Manxuan protectively in his arms, Lin Tian shot out from the crack like a meteor, and then with a loud bang, the crack completely sealed with a flash, the ground restored, showing no trace of having split open.
Upon landing, Xiao Manxuan was panting quickly in Lin Tian’s arms, her chest heaving.
"Don’t be afraid, it’s all over." Lin Tian patted her back, comforting her.
"I’m... not afraid, it’s just that it was so thrilling, we almost got crushed into mush." Xiao Manxuan patted her chest, exclaiming.
"Being crushed into mush isn’t a problem. That way, you’d be a part of me, and I a part of you, inseparable." Lin Tian joked, making Xiao Manxuan laugh, her eyes curving like crescent moons.
"Ahem..." Another cough interrupted their moment, Xu Feibai’s expression unknown: "You two continue, I’ll leave first. Don’t worry, what I promised, I’ll deliver."
The last sentence was directed at Lin Tian. After speaking, he left, unwilling to be the third wheel.
"Lin Tian, what’s he giving you?" Xiao Manxuan asked curiously.
"A medicinal ingredient for your treatment." Lin Tian said vaguely.
Zhang Lingyu had initially forbidden others from knowing about the zombies, but now Xiao Manxuan and Miss already knew about vampires and zombies, so Lin Tian wasn’t sure if hiding it still mattered. However, since Zhang Lingyu insisted, he’d keep quiet for now.
"Oh." Xiao Manxuan blinked, responding with an ’oh’, but didn’t pursue the matter further. She was a smart girl.
The two walked out of the basement, both looking up at the night sky. The blood moon had completely faded, and the moon once again shone with its bright glow.
"It’s finally over." Xiao Manxuan sighed slightly, having experienced the entire blood moon ordeal, full of tumult and waves. The night sky had finally regained its peace.
Is it really over? Lin Tian thought of the last two beams of red light, pondering silently without voicing it.
Three days after the blood moon, it seemed to really be over when Lin Tian received a call from Director Liang at the affiliated hospital, informing him that most patients had awakened, including Qiao Xiaoyi and Mu Binglan.
"Xiaoyi, don’t let me down. I hope you remember something, otherwise I’ll have to take you for hypnotism." Lin Tian looked at the time, leaving the classroom.
